This issue is the second part of Inhuman’s AXIS tie-in and it is extremely enjoyable. What I really love about this series now that some of the new characters have been introduced and established, is the balance between old and new. In my opinion, this book has finally found its groove; this issue and the last are definitely proof of that. This is easily one of the strongest issues of the series thus far; it has strong writing and stellar artwork. It really is a lot of fun, especially with this being an AXIS tie-in and getting to see Medusa’s dark side.
The highlight of this issue for me is when Spider-Man “visits.” He brought a degree of humor to the series that I haven’t really felt since it started. It helped lighten the issue with such darker themes. In a weird way this series is starting to remind me of Game of Thrones. And honestly when it comes to the Inhumans, I think that is a perfect way to go about this series. People fighting for the throne, betrayal, and superpowers, what more could you ask for?
I have to note that Stegman’s covers for this series are some of the best on the shelf. This issue also sees the return of Stegman’s Spider-Man, who is truly a sight for sore eyes. His Spider-Man is truly amazing. Some of the scenes with Medusa’s hair are wicked awesome. I swear this guy gets better with every issue that he puts out. Isanove’s Colors really bring Stegman’s artwork to life. And they help set the tone of the issue, it is for the most part a bit darker of an issue with AXIS affecting Medusa, and the colors reflect that.
Rating: 7 (Out of 7) – Spider-Man vs. Medusa! That alone is worth the price of admission! On top of that you get some great writing and artwork!
