Video Game Awards 2012 Drinking Game
The Video Game Awards (VGAs from now on) have always been a mixed bag for gamers. While most would acknowledge the fact they don’t take the awards show seriously, we all tune in to see the latest world premieres. The problem is that you also have to sit through the pretty piss poor show to get there.
This year’s VGAs aren’t much different. While there aren’t a ton of zOMG announcements lined up just yet, there are teases of new footage from the highly anticipated The Last of Us, more from Bioshock Infinite and Tomb Raider and DLC from Assassin’s Creed 3 and Halo 4’s Spartan Ops mode. It really doesn’t sound that exciting on paper.
Anyhow, the real “Treat” of the VGAs are the awards.. or so they continue to claim.. I mean the A.. stands for something. Below you will find all the categories and nominees, but before we get there. Let’s go to the big rule book!
Generally speaking, there’s one big drinking game with the show. Before the show starts, you’re supposed to pick your expected winner and for every one you get wrong, you take a drink.
In most award shows that wouldn’t be so bad, about 2-3 hours to give out awards usually like every 10 minutes or so.. the VGA tends to speed through the awards.. last year they gave out half of them in a 30 second montage.. and that might get you wasted.. so we advise using that rule but spacing out your drinks.
This year, we’re gonna add a second rule which is every time you feel it emabrasses or sets back the industry, take a shot. Yes, this means when a grown man comes on stage to teabag the host.. you should drink and probably cry yourself to sleep. 🙁
