Mai Tunes: The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog

We mentioned yesterday that this weekend marked the 20th anniversary of Aladdin, but we noted it wasn’t the only anniversary this past weekend. While, we did a mini-write up on Sonic the Hedgehog 2 already, there were other Sonic projects that came out of that era.

One such project was The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog. A rather slapstick morning cartoon. This took Sonic and Tails on adventures as they dealt with Dr. Robotnik and his henchmen, Scratch and Grounder, who were modeled after enemies from Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Interestingly enough, Sonic was voiced by Jaleel White (TV’s Steve Urkel) in both this and the other Sonic cartoon to premiere around the same time. But more on that tomorrow!
