Some decisions leave us scratching our collective heads. Others would make sense, but the delivery is off. Halo Spartan Assault is somewhere in-between those two. The idea of a spin-off to the Halo franchise isn’t out of the norm. We explored it before with Halo Wars and to a certain degree Halo: ODST.

Halo Spartan Assault is similar in that vein with a side story taking place between Halo 3 and 4. Where it begins to lose us though is being a free to play (to a degree), twin stick shooter (that still supports the Xbox 360 controller) on Windows 8 Smartphones, tablets and PC. All of that and it comes out this July.. with no announcement for XBLA. Would make a marquee “Summer of Arcade” title. Either way, check out the trailer!
