Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends reunite! This issue was a lot of fun, these characters have great chemistry. Bobby and Angie are out buying groceries for the Jean Grey School for Higher Learning when they run into everyone’s favorite web head on their way out of the store. Once they bump into him, it was all downhill from there as they each had different plans on how to go about dealing with the “baby” they find in the parking lot.
This issue had some really great moments and it was great to see Bobby and Peter interacting again. I guess what didn’t do it for me in this issue was the very small scale of the story. I don’t think realistically it would’ve taken a team up of all three of them to save the day given the situation, but it was still fun to see them all together. I would love to see more of these three together and would totally enjoy an actual mini-series or crossover featuring them.
Paco Medina’s artwork is great; I always look forward to his stuff. His artwork is very clean and consistent throughout the issue. I really dig his Iceman, and we get to see a lot of him in this issue! As a side note: his recent work on Nova is awesome and totally worth checking out! Kris Anka does a very nice cover; he is popping those things out like a machine!
Rating: 5 (out 7) — The artwork is great but the story is just okay, I had much higher expectations with a Spider-Man, Iceman, and Firestar team up.
