As part of our New Year’s speech, we noted we will be doing more themed months. With that means will vary from month to month (and not every month will be themed), but in general it will mean a portion of 151 Proof Movies will be dedicated to the theme, at least one episode of Nerds on the Rocks and a site-wide poll. Other features will pop-up like Nostalgia With a Twist, Top 7 and possibly Toon-In.
To kick it off, we’re going old-school! Hanna-Barbera was a huge part of my life growing up as I’m fairly certain that Cartoon Network thrived on repeats of their shows for the first… 5 years of their existence. I’ve seen countless versions of Scooby-Doo, I’ve watched as Fred, Barney, Wilma and Betty welcomed and then married their kids, The Jetsons went to the past and swam along with The Snorks!
Somewhere in the past 2 decades though, folks have taken to adapting Hanna-Barbera properties to the big screen and to say the results have been mixed would actually be very generous of me! It is with that starting point, that we look to kick off Hanna-Barbera Month as we plan on watching live-action adaptions of The Flintstones, Scooby-Doo and Yogi Bear!
