Mai Tunes: Aladdin TAS

This weekend marked the 20th anniversary of two major brands. We already discussed Sonic the Hedgehog 2 on Saturday with a brand new Sonic Saturday column. But November 25th also marked the 20th anniversary of the release of Disney’s Aladdin onto big screens.

Aladdin, like a lot of things in 1992 I found out, was a very big film in the early part of my life. It remains my favorite 2D-handed drawn Disney film. It has my favorite Disney Princess in Jasmine and a ton of great music.

We will hopefully have more on Aladdin throughout the week. At least the movie. In the fall of 1994, Disney decided to spin out the brand a bit. After the direct-to-video sequel, Return of Jafar, Disney created Aladdin, an animated series that aired during the Disney Afternoon. The show used the opening theme of the original movie in an abridged version as the opening theme. While the theme didn’t change much over the course of the show, the footage did. Below you’ll find the show’s 3 openings.
