Bar Banter: Summer Movie Preview
2013 is an exciting year
There is nothing better than taking a trip to the cinema or renting the film from LOVEFiLM that everyone has been talking about, and a new year brings a whole new set of films to get excited about. Here are some of the films coming soon to the cinema:
Action and drama fans can expect plenty from the release of Fast and Furious 6 in May. The all-star lead cast are returning (Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and Michelle Rodriguez) to the screens in what is set to be the most high-stakes adventure yet. Unable to return home and forever on the run, the main characters played by Diesel and Walker, find themselves feeling lost and lacking something concrete in life. Other action/adventure films to be released this year are Kick Ass 2, Iron Man 3 and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.
Sci-fi fans shouldn’t despair either. This year shows the release of popular director Guillermo del Toro’s, Pacific Rim. Set in the future, the film features masses of monstrous creatures which begin war with human kind — only two unlikely heroes teamed to drive specially developed weapons called Jaegers are man-kinds only hope. Star Trek Into Darkness and Elysium are other examples of sci-fi movies released this year.
Comedy fans can expect a lot of sequels to much loved comedy films this year. The release of The Hangover lll, Anchorman 2 and Grown Ups 2 are a perfect reason to visit the cinema in 2013. Grown Ups 2, to be released in August this year, brings back Adam Sandler once again; this time Lenny (played by Sandler) is moving his family back to his hometown. The so-called grown-ups are learning lessons from their kids on the last day of school.
If you want to take the kids for a fun day out, then this year has plenty of films for the kids to watch. The Smurfs 2 and Monsters University are set to be released this year, both of which can be watched in 3D to add to the fun. Monsters University (prequel to Monsters Inc) tells the story of Mike Wazowski and James P. Sullivan and how the two inseparable characters overcame their differences and built a heart-warming friendship whilst at the University of Fear. This film is to be released in June.
